This book has eight parts. In the first two chapters of Part I, Gary Bivings, Mary Woodell (both of the consulting firm Bivings Woodell), and I introduce the intranet from the perspective of where the Internet ends and the intranet begins. Then we discuss the various information resource uses of an intranet. In the second half of Part I, I examine the differences between intranets and traditional groupware. I then set the foundation for intranets with a detailed background of the client/server relationship.
Trick of the Internet Gurus
The Internet guru is a hard person to define. No test exists to qualify a person as an Internet guru. It is not always obvious who is and is not a guru. Often, I am talking to some novices and they mention that someone is an 'Internet guru.' When I meet this person, it is frequently the case that the supposed guru is giving out wrong and misleading information. Therefore, the first criteria of being an Internet guru is that other Internet gurus must be able to respect your Internet knowledge.

So we begin.
World Wide Web - Beyond the Basics

The most popular part of the Internet is the World Wide Web, where anyone can access hypertext pages with the click of a button.
One would hardly call me a 'techno savvy' person. Infact they would never call me that at all. For somebody who takes three minutes to distinguish between the forward and the rewind button of the tape recorder, this adjective seems as much a misfit for me as poor and needy would be for Veronica Lodge. When it comes to existence, electronic equipments and me have a mutual understanding. Only our understanding is mutual, not our existence!
Designing & Implementing Microsoft Internet Information Server
You're just sitting there, a nice, easy-going MIS, enjoying the managed chaos that comes with the job. You're watching the log files, handling the occasional 'I can't get my screen saver to turn off!' crisis. . .in general, a happy life.
Using Microsoft Internet Information Server
Internet Web server configuration and management used to be considered a difficult task. With all the aspects of installation, security, performance monitoring, and service partitioning, prospective Internet and intranet site managers were usually so intimidated that they often gave up any hope of setting up a site on their own. Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) has changed all of that.
