CUPS: Common UNIX Printing System Book
As a UNIX and Linux system administrator of 5 years, I find that setting up network printing was and is one of the most surprising challenges. And explain perhaps one of the biggest challenges to my users and management. After all Windows printing is virtually plug and play. Configuration, whereas pressure is on UNIX and Linux virtually without standards and is unique for each printer. So I am very curious to see any move towards a standardized printing configuration for UNIX and Linux.
Also a lack of standards for the printing configuration UNIX and Linux meant that the selection of printers that would work was very small. That's got as far as CUPS. However, I still find CUPS very confusing. So I broke down, bought this book and studied it.
This book is more like a reference book. And it is focused primarily on programming with CUPS and writing (PPD Postscrip Printer Description) files.
I was disappointed that they do not cover more on installing new printer configurations and steps for troubleshooting them. I was also disappointed that he missed an important step how to install new PPD files.
CUPS requires a PPD file to describe the capabilities of each printer, and as with the printer and driver interface (if available). The book lists several web sites for retrieving PPD files. However, the book does not explain how in a new PPD file in the "Adding Your First Printer" section, add or anywhere else for that matter. rapidshare

IPv6 in Practice: A Unixer's Guide to the Next Generation Internet Book
Publisher: Springer Berlin Heidelberg | ISBN: 3642063888 | edition 2009 | PDF | 393 pages | 11,2 mb
Handling IPv6 for the first time is a challenging task even for the experienced system administrator. New concepts and mechanisms make it necessary to rethink well-established methods of the IPv4 protocol.
This book is a practical guide to IPv6 addressing Unix and network administrators with experience in TCP/IP(v4) but not necessarily any IPv6 knowledge. It focuses on reliable and efficient operation of IPv6 implementations available today rather than on protocol specifications. Consequently, it covers the essential concepts - using instructive and thoroughly tested examples - on how to configure, to administrate, and to debug IPv6 setups. These foundations are complemented by discussions of best practices and strategic considerations aimed at overall efficiency, reliability, maintainability, and interoperation.

Hardening Cisco Routers Book
Publisher: O'Reilly Media | ISBN: 0596001665 | edition 2002 | PDF | 191 pages | 12,5 mb
To harden a router is to render it more heavily defended and more difficult to attack. Because routers (by definition) serve as points of entry into your network, it makes sense to devote extra effort to their security. Hardening Cisco Routers shows how to make adjustments to the configurations of routers from Cisco Systems to improve their resistance to attack, particularly external attack. This is essentially a book of specialized Internetwork Operating System (IOS) commands, as well as explanations of their behavior. It'll appeal to the router administrator--employed either by an organization's internal network staff, an outside consultancy, or a service provider--who wants to know which IOS commands he or she should add to routers' configuration files to tighten their security without a lot of hassle.
