College Algebra: Concepts & Contexts
This book bridges the gap between traditional and reform approaches to algebra encouraging users to see mathematics in context. It presents fewer topics in greater depth, prioritizing data analysis as a foundation for mathematical modeling, and emphasizing the verbal, numerical, graphical and symbolic representations of mathematical concepts as well as connecting mathematics to real life situations drawn from the users’ majors.

Practice Makes Perfect Algebra
Practice Makes Perfect has established itself as a reliable practical workbook series in the language-learning category. Practice Makes Perfect: Algebra, provides students with the same clear, concise approach and extensive exercises to key fields they've come to expect from the series-but now within mathematics. This book presents thorough coverage of skills, such as handling decimals and fractions, functions, and linear and quadratic equations.
Practice Makes Perfect: Algebra is not focused on any particular test or exam, but complementary to most algebra curricula. Because of this approach, the book can be used by struggling students needing extra help, readers who need to firm up skills for an exam, or those who are returning to the subject years after they first studied algebra
A Course in Homological Algebra
Homological algebra has found a large number of applications in many fields ranging from finite and infinite group theory to representation theory, number theory, algebraic topology and sheaf theory. In the new edition of this broad introduction to the field, the authors address a number of select topics and describe their applications, illustrating the range and depth of their developments. A comprehensive set of exercises is included.
Handbook of Algebra
Algebra, as we know it today, consists of many different ideas, concepts and results. A reasonable estimate of the number of these different items would be somewhere between 50,000 and 200,000. Many of these have been named and many more could (and perhaps should) have a name or a convenient designation. Even the nonspecialist is likely to encounter most of these, either somewhere in the literature, disguised as a definition or a theorem or to hear about them and feel the need for more information. If this happens, one should be able to find enough information in this Handbook to judge if it is worthwhile to pursue the quest.
In addition to the primary information given in the Handbook, there are references to relevant articles, books or lecture notes to help the reader. An excellent index has been included which is extensive and not limited to definitions, theorems etc.

Wigner Algebra in Quantum Theory
First published by Cambridge University Press in 1985, this series of Encyclopedia volumes attempts to present the factual body of all mathematics. Clarity of exposition and accessibility to the non-specialist were an important consideration in its design and language. The development of the algebraic aspects of angular momentum theory and the relationship between angular momentum theory and special topics in physics and mathematics are covered in this volume.
Elementary and Intermediate Algebra – Digital Video Interactive
Comes With13 CD’s. Each CD has about an hour of video. Digital Video Tutor is included with the textbook: Elementary and Intermediate Algebra: Graphs & Models 2nd edition Published by Pearson / Addison Wesley. A study guide is also included.
Students who approach math with trepidation will find that Elementary and Intermediate Algebra, Second Edition, builds competence and confidence. The study system, introduced at the outset and used consistently throughout the text, transforms the student experience by applying time-tested strategies tothe study of mathematics. Learning strategies dovetail nicely into the overall system and build on individual learning styles by addressing students’ unique strengths. The authors talk to students in their own language and walk them through the concepts, showing students both how to do the math and the reasoning behind it. Tying it all together, the use of the Algebra Pyramid as an overarching theme relates specific chapter topics to the ‘big picture’ of algebra.
The Carson algebra series addresses two fundamental issues – individual learning styles and comprehension of key mathematical concepts – to meet the needs of today’s readers. Carson’s Study System, presented in the To the Student section at the front of the text, adapts to the way each reader learns to ensure their success in this and future courses. The consistent emphasis on the big picture of algebra, with pedagogy and support that helps readers put each new concept into proper context, encourages conceptual understanding.
Fundamental Theorem of Algebra: Papers
The Fundamental Theorem of Algebra states that any complex polynomial must have a complex root. This basic result, whose first accepted proof was given by Gauss, lies really at the intersection of the theory of numbers and the theory of equations, and arises also in many other areas of mathematics. The purpose of his book is to examine three pairs of proofs of the theorem from three different areas of mathematics: abstract algebra, complex analysis and topology. The first proof in each pair is fairly straightforward and depends only on what could be considered elementary mathematics. However, each of these first proofs lends itself to generalizations, which in turn, lead to more general results from which the fundamental theorem can be deduced as a direct consequence. These general results constitute the second proof in each pair. In addition to the proofs and techniques themselves, many applications such as the insolvability of the quintic and the trascendence of e and pi are presented. For a linear algebra course, the Fundamental Theorem of Algebra is needed, so it is the refore desireable to have a proof of it interms of linear algebra
Elementary and Intermediate Algebra
Elementary & Intermediate Algebra, 4/e by Baratto/Bergman is part of the latest offerings in the successful Streeter-Hutchison Series in Mathematics. The fourth edition continues the hallmark approach of encouraging the learning of mathematics by focusing its coverage on mastering math through practice. This worktext seeks to provide carefully detailed explanations and accessible pedagogy to introduce beginning and intermediate algebra concepts and put the content in context. The authors use a three-pronged approach (I. Communication, II. Pattern Recognition, and III. Problem Solving) to present the material and stimulate critical thinking skills. Items such as Math Anxiety boxes, Check Yourself exercises, and Activities represent this approach and the underlying philosophy of mastering math through practice. The exercise sets have been expanded, organized, and clearly labeled. Vocational and professional-technical exercises have been added throughout. Repeated exposure to this consistent structure should help advance the student’s skills in relating to mathematics. The book is designed for a combined beginning and intermediate algebra course, or it can be used across two courses, and is appropriate for lecture, learning center, laboratory, or self-paced courses. It is accompanied by numerous useful supplements, including McGraw-Hill’s online homework management system, MathZone.
